Monster Cable ,an well known company for its expensive audio and video cables, holds more than 70 trademarks on the word "monster".
The problem came when Monster sued California's Monster MiniGolf franchise only for using the word "monster" in their company name. However ,it's  hard to believe that consumer will ever be confused  when seeking an HDMI cable.
Things are more complicated than this.It seems that Monsters Cable fought about 190 monster battles at the US Patent and Trademark Office and filled around 30 monster lawsuits in federal courts. They even sued Walt Disney Co over products tied to the film "Monsters".
The couple who owns Monster MiniGolf didn't want to give up at their rights and they have started an Internet-based guerilla campaign to generate public support."We blogged nonstop, around the clock, for weeks, and enlisted much of our staff to do the same."
Because all of that ,Monster Cable received about 200 angry consumer complaints, deciding finally to drop the lawsuit ,withdraw the company opposition to Monster Mini Golf's trademark application and more, paid the couple $ 200.000 for their expenses during the lawsuit.
