Changes in the Method of Issuance of Certain USPTO Notices in Trademark Applications
Written by DKD Trade , Sunday, 28 February 2010
ImageThe USPTO is expanding its sending of electronic notices to trademark applicants who have authorized e-mail communication with the USPTO.

On or about March 15, 2010, three (3) additional notices will be provided electronically where authorized by the applicant: Notice of Acceptance of Amendment to Allege Use; Notice of Acceptance of Statement of Use; and Notice of Approval of Extension Request.  Following this deployment, the USPTO will begin work on an electronic Notice of Allowance.

This new approach should benefit both applicants and the USPTO. For example, issuing these notices via e-mail will allow applicants to receive the notices almost immediately and will save the USPTO the cost and time of mailing paper notices to applicants who have already authorized e-mail communication with the Office.
